It is the key item that gives one the energy to start the day with an aim of meeting certain goals by the end of the day. This paper will discuss the importance of motivation in the mentioned areas, the positive effects of motivation and the happenings if there is no motivation. 1.1 The importance of motivation in the classroom In a classroom scenario, students are from different backgrounds and they have different levels of understanding and learning capabilities. In a classroom with no motivation, the students with less learning capabilities or rather those who are slow in learn get disadvantaged. They become frustrated and bored with assigned tasks that they cannot handle. These students tend to have little interest during class time thus their concentration lowered. Their view of the importance of education is changed and such students will take it as a burden. Their attendance for classes decreases while some can even stop schooling. In a classroom, motivation comes in where the students feel some sense of belonging. The teachers base the syllabus according to the interests of the students. The students instructed using different approaches. Some theory work put into practical to break the monotony of being in classroom. The students have the opportunity to make decisions of how they prefer to learn a given subject or topic. Motivation in a classroom is important since it has a positive result at the long run. The desired achievements of success attained. The gap between the fast and slow learners brought closer. The courage, pride, behavior, and performance of motivated students generally rises compared to those who are not motivated. 1.2) Importance of motivation at work The workplace is a social place where combined capabilities or different individuals bring out a tangible effect. Motivation at the workplace is all about what and how workers want to work. It entails what they want introduced, improved, or abolished for them to work comfortably. Lack of motivation in work places brings in headaches to the managers and employers, as the employees do not produce the best. There arise issues of low profitability, company failures, and thus closure due to low production One needs motivation in the workplace to carry out his/her roles in a comfortable environment. One develops a sense of belonging to the workplace especially if there is job security. One has the freedom to speak out his/ her views regarding a matter, freedom to interact with all employees regardless of their positions. The desire for one to work overtime even without pay for the success of a company. It also enables one to work effectively under minimum supervision, working hard and is proud of what he/she does. Motivation leads to accomplishment at work. An inter-dependent environment created instead of the power-based environment. Problems concerning the organization easily solved in this case rather than in cases that they overlooked. All the needs and wants of majority of the staff met. Employees are in a position to mention and meet their goals for the success of the company. The company is then able to increase production while it is not at the risk of losing its employees. 1.3) the importance of motivation at home The home environment influences the achievements of the students directly or indirectly. The forces, conditions, and objects at home affect the physical, intellectual, emotional growth of the child while it affects the school performance (Schneider, B., & Lee, Y. 1990). The parents who provide all these play a major role in academic performance by the way they motivate their children back at home. The way they treat a student if he/she performs poorly at one time greatly affects the next performance. The type of books and materials they motivate children to read matters also. The type of friends the parents allow children to associate with affects the children’s motivations to various ideas. The awards students’ gets from the parents motivates them to put more effort in their studies. If there is no motivation at home, students will tend to stagnate at their present level of learning. They have little or no interest in learning and they do things at their pleasure. The general performance in school of such students is low. This students chose to or not to go to school and may end up dropping out of school. Motivation at home has positive effects in that a student, especially a young child enjoys reading or doing homework with the parent. This enables the child to improve his/her reading skills while they develop a strong relationship with the parent. A student who is motivated through a reward is encouraged to work harder in subsequent papers. A student given guidance and counseling tends to change the attitude that caused the failure. This student can thus perform in future or given the opportunity to speak out exactly what he/she wants. Positive motivation at home makes the parents and children wake up with an urge to go school or work with a given aim. The motivated child goes to school with an aim to perform better while the parents are motivated to go work for the provision of the needs of their children. 1.4 Conclusion Having discussed motivation in various areas, it is of paramount importance in our day-to-day life. The child needs motivation from their parents and teachers while the parents and teachers need motivation from this child. The employees need motivation from their employers and the employers too need this motivation from the performance of their employees. Motivation therefore is inter-dependent in everyone. Every one of us has a role to play in life to make someone’s’ else life motivated.
