The sheriff, Ford Lou, involves himself in love affairs, which later cause him to involve in a series of murder cases in an attempt to conceal evidence from the authority. In this essay, the similarities and differences of the two predators in the novels are discussed broadly.

They both have a past that causes them to behave maliciously by committing murders. In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll with his friend Mr. Hyde were previously involved in homosexual actions. The past event influences the behavior of the characters, which haunts the doctor to engage in evil activities. According to the populace, the doctor was known as a humble man, and they could not envisage the doctor being involved in the murder. The reason that inspires him to create the magic portion still puzzles his neighbors. Ford Lou was affected by the death of his brother, Mike, who he suspected was murdered soon after being realized from the penitentiary for rape.

Another similarity between Dr. Jekyll and Ford Lou is that the authorities find it intricate to arrest them to face the law. Dr. Jekyll manages to hide from his relatives, and the authority fails to identify and notice problems (Stephenson, 12). Ford Lou successfully commits murders and manages to escape from the hands of authority after a series of murder cases.

The difference between the two predators in the two novels is that while one character is involved in the murder of an individual in The Killer Inside Me, in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, two characters were involved. The real character bearing the name, Mr. Hyde, does a detached murder from Dr. Jekyll, caused by the effects of taking the portion. Fascinatingly, the doctor could change to Mr. Hyde’s wicked characteristics. The murder that Dr. Jekyll committed was suicide, after failing to get the portion required to maintain the self-being life (Jeanne, and James, 5). In The Killer Inside Me, Ford Lou is the only victim that is involved in killing and sometimes thinks that there is a killer inside him (Roger). He does this in such a smart way that it takes time for the authority to identify him as the slaughterer.

Both predators are murdered to gratify dissimilar desires and achieve diverse goals. Dr. Jekyll believed human beings' souls consisted of two sides: the malevolent and right side. Therefore, he wanted to prove his theory, hence, originated a portion that could change a person to another individual with different characteristics. It is for this reason that he murdered himself after failing to get the proper portion to drink. Ford Lou brutally battered Joice, her girlfriend, and shot the son of the mayor in an endeavor to hide the substantiation for committing murder. The other reason why he gets involved in the slaying is for retribution. The retribution is initiated by his detestation of the killers of his brother (Bradshow).

The predators in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Killer Inside Me are both involved in coldblooded slayings. People should learn to live with others peacefully without quarreling, but through conversing suitably. Killing is an immense crime that should not be tolerated by the government, and victims should be castigated
