The Role Of Evidence In General Managers' Decision-Making Introduction Evidence-based management is a movement that has emerged to use the best current evidence in decision-making and administration. It includes practices of the organization and managerial decisions that are by the available best scientific evidence. The best proof is in a way of norms from the natural sciences. An essential aspect of evidence-based management is educating future and current managers in evidence-based practices. There are very many challenges that have faced the efforts to promote evidence-based management than other evidence-based initiatives. In reality, there are no set up cultural or legal requirements that regard knowledge or education for someone to become a manager. The adoption of practices that are evidence-based is likely to be specific in an organization, especially where leaders take the initiative to set up a culture that is evidence-based. Companies that do practice evidence-based management usually go through experimentation cycles and redesign their practices to build a culture that is evidence-based, which is consistent with their mission and values. The essential aim of the paper is to look at the benefits of applying evidence-based management in the sector of health. In addition, how well it can be utilized to change the perception of the health care workers (Milberg, 2014, p.45). Problems faced by the healthcare workers Health care workers around the globe do experience many problems. The problems may include overlapping of duties and unsuccessful delivery in the maternity department. Healthcare professionals to overcome numerous challenges they face at their workstations should apply evidence-based management. It will also help them to provide better services to the clients who visit their workstations for medical assistance. The approach is to be decided by what different departments would require in the health sector (Mihalic, & Elliott, 2015, 98). Objectives of the research · How to utilize the evidence-based management to analyze the needs of an individual community and meet the said needs using the appropriate evidence available. · In the sector of health care, try to set up the interaction between medicine and public health in reference to an evidence-based approach. · Analyze the reliability of research as a source of evidence and compare it with any other kind of healthcare studies. · Evaluate the change in the approach of management which is brought about by the use of the evidence-based management. · Establish the impact of evidence-based management in the system of health care (Mac Carrick, Owen, & Hearder, 2014, p.67). Unit of analysis The unit of analysis will be the healthcare worker’s approach to treating mothers who are pregnant. Workers in the health care play a vital role in facilitating a healthy and safe place for parents. Application of the evidence-based management in their workplace is very crucial since the delivered babies need to be the best medicine. They should be made safe, and their mothers need to be with best possible care (Lopez-Cortés et al, 2013, p.97). The relevant variables There are very many variables that are likely to arise in dealing with the issue of evidence-based management in the health care sector. Some of the variables may include; practitioner’s knowledge and if it is necessary for an individual department to be managed by a healthcare worker. For example, should a chief pharmacist or somebody who has the knowledge of finance (Linton, & Prasun, 2013, p.68) head the department of finance in a hospital. Research hypothesis Many questions can help in determining the use of evidence-based management in the setting of healthcare. The research questions may include the following; 1. Have you made use of evidenced-based research to understand the wants of the community? What is the existing relationship between medicine and public health in reference to evidence-based management? 2. Is the research a source that is reliable of evidence in the healthcare sector? 3. As a worker in the healthcare, have you utilized evidence-based management in any of the duties. 4. What is the real impact of evidence-based management in the system of healthcare? (Jeve, & Davies, 2014, p.6). The health care department has been using evidence-based information in the practice and management of the professional health care delivery. The management practice is currently being used in business management. It is also important to merge the curriculum of evidence-based management with the curriculum of health care. Evan though evidence-based management has been very crucial in the health-care practice. It has also caused many views among the stakeholders (Isenring et al, 2013, p.57). In addition, evidence-based management has also been used in the management of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy for patients. The search of the database has been applied to generate all the required data regarding the treatment methods. In addition, the recurrence of loss of pregnancy is a discouraging experience for both the clinician and the patient. Very many researchers have been undertaken, starting from the etiology of recurrence miscarriages to the pregnancy loss management. More so, the real control of the recurrent pregnancy loss is still debatable. For this reason, it is critical to venture more research in evidence-based management to deal with the recurrent loss of gestation (Francis-Smyth, Robinson, & Ross, 2013, p.24). Studies have also shown that evidence-based management brings an attempt to challenge professional attitudes be they managers, clinical or both. The reason is to bring an approach that is more standardized to produce efficiency and quality of the healthcare that is. It encourages the practitioners to use peer-reviewed, robust sources of evidence for their decision-making, rather than consultants or popularized sources of management. Evidence-based management brings the idea that the decision can be made traceable and transparent. However, it also shows a move away from decisions that are professional which are based on intuition and experience. They are as non-rational or non-scientific and do not fit the evidence-based paradigm (Deale, & Newton, 2014, p.96). Using and the evidence-based approach to management is not a good solution to the problems that face organizations of health care currently. First it does not show how the patient experiences and local public involvement can be in the decision making of an organization. Also the term evidence-based has its roots from clinical and medicine trials to become the best means of enhancing healthcare delivery. Evidence-based management is right to challenge how essential decisions are made and upon the knowledge sources; they depend on (Booker, Bontis, & Serenko, 2012, p.47). The real impact of evidence-based management in the healthcare sector can be seen in the below pie chart. (Booker, Bontis, & Serenko, 2012, p.47). Future research In an effort to encourage evidence-based management in other fields other than just the healthcare sector, a lot of research has to be done. For example, research in the solutions of problems in vegetation science that has proved important for scientists other than the use of editorial mechanisms. Also in the facilitating the management of vegetation which is very important for the survival of humankind (Booker, Bontis, & Serenko, 2012, p.47).
