The human resource management function of Dutiful Daughters includes a wide range of activities, and key amongst them is responsibility for human resources, which entails recruiting and selecting new employees, training ensuring employees are high performers and make sure management, dealing with performance issues and personnel issues conform to numerous regulations. Human resource management is also a comprehensive and strategic approach to managing employees and workplace environment and culture. Effective human resource management at Dutiful Daughters enables employees to contribute productively and effectively to the overall direction of the company and the achievement of the company’s objectives and goals. Question 1 How Hellen, can expand the business successful without losing the personal touch In order to expand the business successful without losing the personal touch, Helen the founder of Dutiful Daughters Company needs more supporters like managers, accountants and marketing staff. The accountants will assist her with accounting activities and help the company to pursue government to enable it meet the finances needed to run the company as the ageing population increases. The managers will help her to support and manage the schedule of carers, contract the government and enhance external communication with other care giving organizations. The marketing staff ca construct and implement a business plan that will set the goals of the business and articulate reasons why these goals are believed achievable , and the pal to be used I order to achieve these goals. Helen should recruit more employees to substitute ad do her work. She must also apply human resource planning to increase the number of employees entailing recruitment strategies. Sisson (1993) notes that human resource planning to evaluate and identify the human resources required for meeting the goal of expanding the company. The human resource plan will also help Helen to assess the availability of qualified employees or human resources that will be needed once the business is expanded. Helen should use effective human resources planning strategies that will entail having enough staff, with the appropriate mixture of talents and who are in suitable locations and able to perform their jobs when required (Sisson, 1993). Since Helen has knowledge on provision care, companionship and home support, she is supposed to use her personal skills and knowledge to train her workers particularly about customer focus, the service mind and special duties which are very important and useful for her business. Dutiful Daughters should use marketing staff and utilize advertisement to communicate the business to the public. The company can use different forms of communication such as magazines, newspaper, internet, radio, and sign boards. Marketing is a significant activity in Dutiful Daughters business because it has direct effect on sales and profitability (Podsakoff & Fetter, 2000). Question 2 A job description for a new employee responsible mainly for personal care of clients for Dutiful Daughters Job Title: Personal care of clients for Dutiful Daughters organization Position reports: To a registered nurse Job Overview: The position is open to an individual who is qualified to provide personal home care, support and help aged people to and people with disabilities to live at home rather than enter some kind of aged care facility. Personal care job entails looking after clients in a personal and similar manner that a family member would look after his or her aged or disabled person. Knowledge and skills: An understanding of proper lifting techniques of elderly and disabled individuals. Offer routine personal and health care assistance and support with everyday activities of the aged or people disabilities in private houses, nursing care facilities and other settings of residence. Help offer clients with considerate, compassionate assistance with exercise, hygiene, communication and medication. Ordering medical supplies Help the nursing staff of Dutiful Daughters to turn ad lift clients in bed to prevent bedsores. Ensure a client’s clothes and bed linens are kept clean through removing dirty clothing and beddings and replacing them with clean ones. Bathing and dressing clients and helping to feed them when necessary. Assist exercise clients by walking them or assisting with leg and arm stretches if the individuals are in a wheelchair or confined to bed. Accompanying clients to social events. Question 3 Type of potential employees would be most attracted to work for Dutiful Daughters Recruitment at Dutiful daughters will offer a pool of potentially qualified job candidates According to Lepak and Harde, (2006), the purpose of recruitment is to determine the current and future requirement of the company in conjunction with its job analysis and personnel planning activities and to increase the work pool of job candidates at a minimum cost. The potential candidates who can be attracted for employment at Dutiful Daughters are university graduates and retired nurses who have the ability to offer home care services such as personal care, overnight care, respite care, companionship, meal preparation and assistance with social or recreational activities. The activity of recruitment and selection of good and qualified employees takes the commitment of the organization and selecting the appropriate candidates is a significant decision. While numerous people might have the appropriate history, they have the incorrect attitude and others have the correct attitude but poorly score o a compatibility test. Therefore, where hiring new employees into the company, Dutiful daughters must look at the motivation and attitudes of the potential candidates. Therefore, potential candidates are the individuals who have an outstanding attitude and incredible motivation, which will increase the care giving success of the company. People can learn home care skills, but they cannot learn good motivation and attitude and they cannot be forced to transform their metal make up. Therefore, when new employees are motivated and have the appropriate attitude, they will be able to push themselves to learn the skills they require in performing their duties (Lepak & Harde, 2006). How potential employees could be effectively recruited Recruitment is the most vital role of human resource professionals in Dutiful Daughters. To land the best recruits, Dutiful Daughters needs to see its business as a place that is distinct and where employee opinions matter. This makes sure that the company is able to retain its present employees and is also able to attract new employees. Being a small business, Dutiful Daughters must approach its recruiting process in a professional way. Dutiful Daughters should create essential skills lists as well as job descriptions that are precise (Spangler & Zhu, 2005). The company should also undertake continuous assessments during the recruitment process to enable it find perfect candidates. The initials step for the organization to define which talents an individual must have in order to be successful in a particular job position. Therefore, Dutiful Daughters should establish a clear mission statement meat for the attraction of top performers only. Mission statements offering job security with opportunities for the advancement of top performers are usually considered superior. This will make top applicants to be more likely to seek organization in the company that they feel that they are able to relate to and take advantage of the interview procedure to find how the company is a unique place to work. The level of performance of the organization will depend on effectiveness of its recruitment function. Becker, and Gerhart, (1996 ) argue that in order to ensure effective recruitment of new employees, Dutiful Daughters must develop and follow strategies of recruitment to hire the excellent talent for its company and to optimally use its resources. An effective recruitment strategy must be practical and well planned to attract good and more talent to apply in the company. Therefore Dutiful Daughters must formulate a successful and effective recruitment strategy that should cover the following aspects. a) Identifying and prioritizing jobs Requirements of new employees keep arising at numerous levels in each organization. It is not possible to fill all job positions immediately and thus there is the need to recognize positions that need immediate action and attention. In order to maintain the quality of recruitment activities, Dutiful Daughters must prioritize vacancies and focus o every vacancy equally or focus upon key jobs first (Spangler, & Zhu, 2005). b) Target candidates The recruitment process of Dutiful Daughters can be effective if the company entirely understands the needs of the form of candidates that are needed and will be useful for the company. The company should focus on the experience level required and the experience level of experience for hire at Dutiful Daughters may range from fresh university graduates to experienced senior professionals such as retired nurses. Effective recruitment strategy should also focus on category of the candidates and define target candidates. The company profile which is a brief summary of the company, its goals and objectives, and milestones accomplished along the way, is one of the most excellent tools to showcase the performance of Dutiful Daughters. The profile will also function as a marketing tool to grab new employees interested in working with the company (Charlesworth, 2009). The main purpose behind the creation of Dutiful Daughters of the company’s website is to approach novel segments essential in growing a business and it may be directed towards to new employees to assist expansion and growth of the company. Charlesworth (2009) notes that the company profile will contain information that includes contact details like physical address, phone numbers and mailing address that will enable potential employees to contact the company. As an indicator on the prospects ad future of the company, a profile must be professionally developed As a page on the Company’s website, the profile should be attractive I appearance, instantly catching the eye of the reader and interspersed with pertinent sub headings and pictures. Conclusion Human resource management is an important business function that helps Dutiful Daughters to effectively manage its employees and drive them towards the achievement of business goals and objectives. Human resource management will also help in human resource planning which will evaluate and identify the human resources needed for meeting the organizational goal of expanding the home care business.
