END OF CHAPTER QUESTIONS (MARKETING ASSIGNMENT) Question One How market oriented is e-Bay? How does their market orientation assist them in delivering superior customer value? Significantly, eBay’s marketing strategy focuses on integrating a number of marketing product and agency services companies like the use of the clear sale, True Action, pepper, M3 Mobile etc; all of which circle through the organization’s leading commerce marketing technology, and media platform, and are backed by more incorporated services.

Moreover, the service is dedicated to driving commerce marketing for great international brands and retailers by countering the complex challenges they face through innovative solutions and as a result, this leads to promising results (EBay Enterprise 2014). The company’s marketing strategy also distinguishes the overall organization from other competitors that also apply digital services, offer marketing services, point solutions and agencies. Basically, the current eBay’s marketing solutions arm has ample attention put on simplifying the complex marketing landscape by coming up with innovative solutions within and across the demand generation value chain, increasing the company’s investment in its commerce marketing technology suite, and connecting its marketing-leading solutions with universal attribution, analytics and business intelligence to drive superior services and transactions.

What role does their business model, culture (business philosophy), electronic community, and marketing strategies play in getting, keeping , and growing customers When it comes to the role of the organization’s business model, business philosophy, electronic community, and marketing strategies in the aspect of maintaining, attracting and growing customers; eBay takes this as one of the core matters that must be looked at keenly (EBay Enterprise 2014). In any business background, it is more expensive to bring on new faces or parties as customers than it is to hold on to the already existing ones; eBay uses this as a stepping stone to make sure that as they get more customers they do not loose the others.

The company ensures that they know what you expect from them as a customer and makes unique, they consult with other experienced professions on how they can make their relationship with customers stronger, they ensure that all their advisors are competent and trustworthy to enhance confidentiality of significant customer details, and upon acquiring customers they ensure that the organization’s personal touch is not lost. Moreover, through the company’s business model there is smart planning and automation and ensuring that the collective growth is profitable.

Question TwoCustomer focus: who are their customers? What do they value? & Inter-functional coordination: How is the company organized? How do the various departments interact?Marriott, as an international organization, has for many years focused on the aspect of taking care of its customers; which it does through putting a lot of attention on it employees, better known to the company as associates, who they direct under the notion that the only way that a company can take care of customers is taking care of the employees who will automatically reflect the same (Shannon 2014).

Typically, Marriott’s success critically depends on the front-line customer care employees and how they are ‘handled’, hence most, if not all of the new managers take part in intensive training workshops that put an emphasis on the achievement of customer satisfaction.Competitive focus: Who are their competitors? What are their strengths and weaknesses? Today, there are a lot of competitors especially in the hotel management field and Marriot puts has ensured that its employees and associates know every detail of its competition so as to have an upper hand.

For instance, there are situations where one of Marriot’s competitors had many employees especially on the counter but lacked cleaning staff which affected the overall hygiene; and hence the organization believes in hiring right the right people in all aspects including numbers (Shannon 2014). Market-driven objectives, market-intelligence utilization, target marketing & performance measures of Marriott Marriott has put a little more effort on acquiring more knowledge on itself and others’ psychological type which has made it even better since self-understanding and having the ability to ‘read others makes a big difference especially in communication.

Generally, the company is continuing to expand its product offerings while it adds hotels, channel partners, and brands on a worldwide scale; backing this up with agile, highly reliable computing constructed around rapid, intelligent transaction processing.ReferencesEBay Enterprise (2014) Introducing Marketing Solutions: Commersations Resource Center.
